What is Blueseventy? A Guide to Blueseventy Wetsuits

Blueseventy Helix wetsuit – Endurance Update

Blueseventy has been making wetsuits and swim gear for triathletes and open-water swimmers for years, and it is one of the biggest brands we carry at Endurance Update. Here is a quick guide to the Blueseventy wetsuit line, so you can find the right suit for your water, your budget and your goals.

What is Blueseventy?

Blueseventy is a swim brand focused on open water and triathlon: wetsuits, swimskins, Podium swimwear, goggles and swim training gear. Its performance wetsuits are made with Yamamoto neoprene and are designed around freedom of movement in the shoulders and arms.

The Blueseventy wetsuit lineup

  • Helix (men's / women's, $995) is the race-day flagship. It has top-of-the-line Yamamoto neoprene, a seamless shoulder design, ultra-flexible thin neoprene in the arms, Lift Panels over the quads for body position, and a reverse zipper that zips top to bottom for faster transitions.
  • Thermal Reaction (men's / women's, $785) is built for cold water. It adds a mid-weight zirconium jersey lining for fast-drying insulation and has a single-piece shoulder panel.
  • Reaction (men's / women's, $680) is inspired by the Helix, with redesigned upper-body paneling that works with your natural rotation, Yamamoto neoprene and a single-piece shoulder. It's one suit for both training and racing.
  • Fusion (men's / women's, $420) is the mid-level value pick. It has 5mm buoyant neoprene down the front of the legs to lift sinking legs, a tapered neckline, and all-Yamamoto construction with more stretch than the Sprint.
  • Reaction Sleeveless (men's / women's, $395) is for warmer water, or for athletes who find full sleeves too restrictive.
  • Alliance SwimRun (men's / women's, $275) is purpose-built for SwimRun racing, where you switch between water and land over and over.
  • Glide Short John (men's / women's, $210) has short legs and a sleeveless design for easy on and off. It's a good first open-water suit, with an updated thin, single-layer comfort neck.
  • Torpedo Kids ($175) is a youth wetsuit with 3mm neoprene in the chest and torso and 2mm in the legs.

How to choose

  • Racing for the podium or a PR: Helix.
  • Cold-water races and early-season swims: Thermal Reaction.
  • One suit for training and racing: Reaction.
  • First "real" wetsuit, or legs that sink: Fusion.
  • Warm water, or you want free shoulders: Reaction Sleeveless.
  • Casual open-water swimming: Glide.

Wetsuit sizing tips

A wetsuit should feel snug on land, with no gaps at the lower back or under the arms. Check the size chart on each product page against your height and weight. Pull the suit up fully through the legs and hips before you do the arms, so the shoulders aren't strained. If you're between sizes or unsure, email us at info@enduranceupdate.com and we'll help you pick.
